My mystery banjo

I bought this one a while ago and it's a real nice player. You can't see it too well, but the dowel stick has a small five pointed star with the words "TRADE MARK" circled around it stamped (1/2 inch diameter) near the tail piece and near the rim. The serial number, 2635, is stamped on the side facing the top side of the nickel-clad rim. The pot is a regular eleven incher and the neck is a 19 fret jobbie. The bridge is an original S.S. Stewart, but I realize that don't mean a thing. There are no markings on the tailpiece.

Here's the peghead, 5.5 inches from the top to the nut. The moon shape near the end looks like it is made out of bone and yes, there is a hole in the peghead encircled by the "moon." The hole is lined by what appears to be a brass tube. An original hole or not, it makes it easy to hang it on the wall.

Under the hood:

The pictures are not great, but guessing, just guessing, I'd say it's about 1880-1890 vintage. If you have any clues I'd love to hear from you, please drop me an email.
